Tip 1

The hardware for your wooden doors must fit into the pre-drilled holes in the door.

Tip 2

The better the quality of the hardware installed, the longer the service life your doors will offer you.

Installing hardware on wood

Wooden door hardware is generally standard, easy to install with wood screws, and often necessary to add elegance and design to your home. It is divided into three types: basic, essential, and accessories.

When we talk about basic hardware, we are referring mainly to hinges and door latches. Every wooden door has an average of 3-4 hinges installed, whose function, as we have already mentioned, is basic: to act as the pivot point on which the door swings. Although there are countless alternatives and different models, they all serve the same function and can all be installed on any door as long as the door has the mortising that allows them to fit. The same applies to the latch.

Second are the essential hardware for wood. These are basically the handles. Handles are a practical AND decorative element that is very important when it comes to the decoration of your doors. Even so, technically it is simple hardware that is screwed into the wood and fitted via a metal square spindle into the latch to be able to operate it.

Finally, we find the accessories. Beyond the basics needed to function, a wide variety of hardware can be added to a wooden door depending on what you need from it. For example, you can add security hardware to increase the protection of your home, a mailbox to receive letters, a door closer, or any other accessory you can think of.

The wooden door is probably the best-selling type of door on the market. In general, every house has an average of 5 to 7 wooden interior doors, and on average, doors in each house are changed once every 15/25 years depending on their hardware. This is why having good hardware that guarantees a long service life for your furnishings will offer the possibility of greater use over the years, in addition to quality and design.
